Bend, Ore. --April 9, 2005 -Annually billed as the Spring Schwing Big Air, fresh snow and wintry winds forced skiers and snowboarders to wait a couple of hours for the competition to begin today on Mt. Bachelor.

The wintry conditions gave way to partly sunny skies as some of the best skiers and snowboarders in the Northwest pulled out all of the stops during a jam session format in an attempt to win a portion of nearly $10,000.00 in prize money. A 98 inch base and two inches of new snow had many Mt. Bachelor guests thinking powder. Still, a couple of hundred spectators watched more than 20 competitors take turns showing off in the Slopestyle Arena on a jump built especially for the Big Air competition.

Kris "Jaymo" Jamieson, the voice of snowboarding for ESPN got the crowd excited making a guest appearance both as announcer and judge. Aaron Brietenbach took the top podium spot in men's snowboarding along with $1500.00 in cash courtesy of Deschutes Brewery and Mountain Dew. Ross Weaver and Johnnie Paxson followed in second and third place respectively. Tommy Ellingson was the best male skier of the day with Dewi Stanczak taking second place and Mark Dvorak coming in third. Prize money for second place was $1000.00 and $750.00 for third.

Robyn Borneman took first place in women's snowboarding with Ashley Thornton coming in second and Abby Moe taking third. In women's skiing Jill Sweeny took home the $750.00 first place with Brigette Brodey and Hillary Baker close on her heels. Second place women won $500.00 and third place $250.00.
