Finally, after five days we are looking positive to open tomorrow in the Home Basin. The patrol team are working hard as we speak, the upper section of the road is being monitored and worked on while another team continues work slope side to get the main basin open for you all. Depending on what happens overnight there may be a short delay in the morning to get going. But be assured the plan is to open. The road will be opened to the public at 8am tomorrow.

Now the key information. We have had at least 180cm in the carpark with a similar amount up top. The Home basin has not been badly wind effected through the storm so tomorrow is going to be OUTSTANDING.

Amisfield bubbles will be on the plaza deck at 11am. The Saddle Basin is also loaded with an even blanket of snow which will make for some AWESOME conditions. With the amount of snow we have been dealing with and the inability to get our crew on the mountain over the past days it will remain closed with a target day of Friday. To help our patrol team to continue their good work, please observe all closures on the mountain. Anyone found breaking a closure will be have their pass revoked.

ROAD and CARPARK update

The road will have a chain restriction of some sort on it tomorrow. Staff will be on hand to help at the bottom of the road and will keep you updated as you arrive. ALL vehicles, including 4wd will be required to carry chains and put them on where indicated. Checks will be made and vehicles without chains will not be permitted beyond the gate.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -To ensure everyone's safety while at Treble Cone, parking will be limited as we will NOT be able to park cars down the road. Only the 3 main car parks will be open. The volume of snow received and the recent changes in the weather means we need to monitor the avalanche hazards on the banks above the upper road. This will be the case for the next few days. The road will open to the public at 8am tomorrow.

RIDE SHARE-We would like everybody's help to manage this. With you, our guests, doing what you can to help minimise the number of vehicles on the mountain so we are can help prevent the need to limit the numbers on the hill.

So please FILL YOUR VEHICLE, carpool with friends and family, pick up hitchhikers, or use the TC SHUTTLE for the next few days to avoid disappointment. The other advantage is that it's also better for the environment!

BASE Triple Comp

This Saturday - Three events in one day. The first big event of the 2011 season and its a local TC favourite. The POW Banked Slalom, Rossignol Expression session and Bern Norwegian downhill. $40 entry with both a pair of skis and snowboard among the huuge prizepool for this event. Enter on line or in the morning by 9.30am.

ABSOLUT Ice

Next Tuesday look out for the creation of some amazing ice sculptures around the base area to add interest to an already stunning view. If you get a chance to get up on the mountain be sure to vote and for those who can't check it all out on TC's facebook and vote there.

There is a $1000 cheque for the winner and the public vote counts so be heard.

Town Office hours

The new Wanaka office on Dungarvon St overlooking Pembroke park has switched to winter hours and be open from 8.00 - 11.00am and 3.00 to 6.00pm daily for season pass pick up and new visitor inquiries and ticketing.

Cheers and look forward to this season!
