Snowboarder Lucas Magoon (Rutland, Vt.) defeated defending champ Niko Cioffi (Rutland, Vt.) while Cassandra Herbes (Sparta, NJ) defended her title Saturday night at the second annual $15,000 Rails to Riches Rail Jam at Killington Resort. In the ski division, John Strenio (Burlington, Vt.) and Kim Lamarre (Lac-Beauport, Quebec) took top honors.

"I just came to ride," said Herbes, who won last's year's inaugural event and pocketed another $1,000 for the victory. "This is only my second day on snow this season, so I just wanted to have fun with it."

Lamarre also took home $1,000 as Magoon and Strenio each won $4,000, all while beating out some of the best jibbers and rail riders in the Northeast.

"I just got lucky. I have never won this much money before in my life," said Strenio, who used the shavings from a local rink near his home to set up a few rails and sharpen his technical skiing skills. Strenio was also impressed with the effort the Killington Pipe and Park Crew put into this year's event by adding another rail.

"Last year was awesome, but this year the Killington Park Crew really stepped it up," he said. "It was a very professionally run event."

Both Magoon and Cioffi qualified for the Union Square Street Sessions taking place on Thursday, February 8 in New York City's Union Square.

Highlights from the Second Annual Rails to Riches will air on NBC January 21 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. EST as part of the Jeep World of Adventure Sports program. In addition, footage will also be broadcast on NBC February 18 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. EST as part of the Union Square Street Sessions. Highlights will also be included on Fuse TV from January 1 through February 8 promoting the Union Square Street Sessions.
